Sambalpur Hottest Place In Odisha At 11.30 AM, Bhubaneswar Singes At 39.6°C

Bhubaneswar: Even as the heat wave continues to singe Odisha, seven districts in the state recorded 36°C or above at 11.30 am on Friday. Sambalpur was the hottest place in the state recording 41°C at 11.30 am.

Sambalpur was followed by Jharsuguda (40.6°C), Bhubaneswar (39.6°C), Hirakud (39.6°C), Chandbali (38.6°C), Balasor (37.8°C), Keonjhar (36.6°C), Gopalpur (34.8°C), Puri (34.4°C), and Paradip (33.8°C).

Meanwhile, the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here a yellow alert for thunderstorms and light rain in five districts of coastal and south Odisha including Kendrapara, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, and Gajapati.

The heat wave will prevail and there is little chance of any major change in day temperature (maximum temperature) during the next two days, the IMD said. While the day temperature will be above 40°C in most places in western Odisha, the wind speed will be between 40 and 50 km per hour.
