Bhubaneswar: World Environment Day is always a critical reminder that we have that collective responsibility to safeguard our planet. This day encourages every individual, community, government, and industry to make positive changes around and secure a sustainable future for generations to come.
The world celebrated the day on the theme of Solution to Plastic Pollution.
Observing World Environment Day, JSW Steel and JUSL planted many saplings at its mining and plant areas in Keonjhar, Sundargarh and Jagatsinghpur districts.
JSW Steel planted around 300 saplings in Jajang, Nuagaon, Narayanposhi and Ganua. The Environment Management department and along with mines managers, employees of JSW Steel and local villagers carried out the mass plantation drive.
Moreover, the company also created awareness and encouraged locals to minimize the use of plastic. Also, it was requested to choose single use plastic for the betterment of the environment.
Similarly, JSW Utkal Steel in Paradip planted five thousand Casuarina saplings in its project area.
The coastal areas of the Paradip Sea are often exposed to natural disasters, hence the need to create extensive mangrove forests along the coast. In the coming days, the company aims to carry out extensive tree plantation programs in various places like this.
On this occasion, sand art made by sand sculptor Partha Sarthi Jena was also in display delivering a message to protect the environment. All senior officials of JUSL were present during the event.
World Environment Day 2023 is a reminder that people’s actions on plastic pollution matter.
