Bhubaneswar: Searing heat wave conditions prevailed across Odisha on Friday with mercury breaching 40° Celsius at 22 places.
Jharsuguda recorded the season’s highest day temperature with 45.6°C followed by other western Odisha towns of Sambalpur with 45.2°C, Sonepur 44.8°C, Boudh 44.6°C and Bolangir 44°C.
While Bhubaneswar recorded a maximum day temperature of 38.2°C, its twin city Cuttack recorded 40.4°C.
Excessive heat accompanied by high humidity in the coastal areas of the state added to the misery of the people.
According to the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD’s) temperature forecast, maximum temperature is very likely to be above normal by 3-5°C at a few places over the districts of Odisha as a consequence of that hot and discomfort weather is likely during the next 4 days.
The weather forecast agency has advised people to take precautionary measures while going outside between 11 AM to 3 PM.
