Heat Wave Conditions To Prevail In Several Parts Of Odisha For Next 5 Days, Collectors Put On Alert

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast hot weather and heat wave conditions are likely to prevail in some districts of Odisha during the next five days.

The maximum temperature is very likely to be above normal by 4-6°Celsius at a few places over the districts during the next five days, the IMD said in a special bulletin.

The weather agency has issued ‘Orange’ and ‘Yellow’ alert for a few places in the districts during the next five days.

The IMD has advised people to take precautionary measures by avoiding heat exposure, keeping cool, and avoiding dehydration while going outside during the daytime between 11 AM to 3 PM.

Here’s the IMD’s Heat Wave warning:

Day-1 (12.06.2023)

Orange warning (Be Prepared)

Heat wave to severe Heat wave conditions is very likely to prevail at a few places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Bargarh, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Khordha, Sonepur, Boudh, and Bolangir.

Yellow warning (Be updated)

Heat wave condition likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Puri, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapada.

Day-2 (13.06.2023)

Orange warning (Be Prepared)

Heat wave to severe Heat wave conditions is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh and Bolangir.

Yellow warning (Be updated)

Heat wave condition is likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nayagarh, Khordha, Cuttack, Ganjam and Jajpur.

Day-3(13.06.2023)

Orange warning (Be Prepared)

Heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Bargarh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Nuapada and Boudh.

Day-4 & Day-5(15.06.2023 to 16.06.2023)

Orange warning (Be Prepared)

Heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh and Bolangir.

The State Emergency Operation Centre in the Office of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has alerted all Collectors in view of the IMD’s warning.
