Bhubaneswar: The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued an alert for the heat wave to severe heat wave in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar along with an advisory.
According to the weather office, the heat will be tolerable for the common public but it may be a health concern for those vulnerable, such as infants, the elderly, and the ailing. In its advisory, the IMD said that people should not venture out of their homes during the day and keep themselves hydrated and avoid exposure to heat.
By 11:30 am today, several parts of Odisha experienced excess heat and humid conditions. Jharsuguda recorded the highest maximum temperature of 43.4°C, followed by 42.4°C in Sambalpur and 41.6°C in Bhubaneswar. On the other hand, Paradip experienced the highest humidity (90 per cent) at 11:30 am on Friday, while the humidity level in Bhubaneswar stood at 38 per cent.
