Bhubaneswar: A book, ‘Digbijayee Gajapati’, written by Dr Indramani Jena was unveiled by Chhattisgarh Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan at a function at Geeta Gobinda Sadan here on Friday.
On the occasion, the book – ‘Ama Chalani, Ama Charitra, Ama Chamaka’, edited by Dr Jena was also unveiled by Harichandan.
Khandapada MLA and Editor of ‘Sambad’ Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, noted historian, Prof Nihar Ranjan Pattanaik and Prof Bijayananda Singh attended the event as guests.
Speaking on the occasion about Digbijayee Gajapati, Dr Jena said, “In 1464, Gajapati Kapilendra Deb brought glory to Odisha, by establishing it as a powerful and financially strong Hindu state.”
The book, Ama Chalani, Ama Charitra, Ama Chamaka, is a collection of articles pertaining to Odia pride and dignity, published in Bijayinee magazine over the past several years.
Analysing the books, Prof Pattanik said that Gajapati Kapilendra Deb was an institution when it came to good administration and history.
Governor Harichandan addressed Kapilendra Deb as the pride of Odisha and Odia people. He narrated several incidents related to the then Gajapati and elaborated on stories of his valour.
On the occasion, Prof Singh said that the contribution of Kapilendra Deb (an ardent devotee of Lord Jagannath), in strengthening the stand of Odisha and Odia people across India was second to none.
The book launch event was organised by Bijayinee Memorial Trust. Dr Prerna Biswal compered the event while the vote of thanks was presented by Dr Somnath Prasad Jena.
