Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Sunday arrested Rama Chandra Sen, senior revenue assistant in the office of the Baripada Sub-Collector in Mayurbhanj district, for possessing disproportionate assets (DA) to the tune of 201% of his known source of income and was forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada.
A case (No.15 dated 18.06.2023) has been registered against Sen, his wife, and two sons at the Balasore Vigilance police station under Sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
During house searches, movable and immovable assets worth crores of rupees were unearthed in the name of Sen. The assets unearthed during the house searches include:
- One palatial triple-storeyed building built on an area of over 13277 sqft at Raghunathganj, Kuliana in Mayurbhanj district worth over Rs. 2 crores.
- One four-storeyed building of approximately 6350 sqft at Padhiaripur village, Kuliana in the Mayurbhanj district.
- 15 Plots in prime areas of Baripada Town, Kuliana, Samakhunta & Bangiriposi of the Mayurbhanj district were found.
- Bank and insurance deposits over Rs 40 lakh.
- 3 four-wheelers (Maruti Swift Dzire, Hyundai i-20, Maruti Echo) worth Rs 20.50 lakh.
- 4 two-wheelers.
- Cash, gold jewellery, and household articles worth over Rs 30.55 lakh.
After a thorough search, inventory, and further inquiry, the income, expenditure, and assets of Sen were calculated and he was found in possession of disproportionate assets which were 201% in excess of his known sources of income.
Investigation into the case is underway and further details are awaited.
