Hot Weather & Heat Wave Conditions Likely To Prevail In Odisha Till Tuesday

Bhubaneswar: The regional office of the India Meteorological Department Current (IMD) here predicted on Sunday that the prevailing severe heat wave is likely to continue for another three days as there is no sign of any major change in the day temperature (maximum temperature) till Tuesday.

Subsequently, the day temperature) will gradually fall by 3°C – 5°C at many places over the districts of Odisha. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature is very likely to be 4°C – 7°C above normal at a few places over the districts of Odisha during the next three days. Consequently, hot and discomfort weather is likely during the next three days and people have been advised to take precautionary measures to avoid heat exposure, keep cool and avoid dehydration while going outside during day time between 11.00 am and 3.00 pm.

The IMD has issued an orange alert for the heat wave to severe heat wave conditions at a few places over the districts of Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Deogarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Cuttack, Khordha, and Nayagarh on Sunday. A yellow warning for heatwave conditions has been issued for Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Nuapada, and Kalahandi.

An orange warning for the heat wave to severe heat wave conditions has been issued for Monday at a few places over the districts of Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Sonepur, Deogarh, Angul, Boudh, Bolangir, and Kandhmal. A yellow warning for heatwave conditions has been issued for one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Khordha, Nuapada, and Kalahandi.

Yellow warning: Heat wave condition is likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Sonepur, Deogarh, and Bolangir on Tuesday.
