Puri: Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Sudarshan were taken from their respective chariots at Saradhabali to the Adapa Mandap of Shree Gundicha Temple. The deities were carried to Adapa Mandap through a ceremonial procession called ‘Goti Pahandi’.
Initially, the idols of Lord Ramakrushna and Lord Madanmohan were transported to the Shree Gundicha Temple, followed by Lord Sudarshan being taken to the Adapa Mandap.
Subsequently, Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra, and Lord Jagannath were taken to the Adapa Mandap through the ‘Goti Pahandi’ process from their chariots by the Daitapati sevayats (temple servitors).
Starting from tomorrow, devotees will have the opportunity to have darshan of the deities at the Adapa Mandap.
Additionally, the special offering known as Adapa Abhada will be made available to devotees from tomorrow as well.
It is worth mentioning that on June 20, the deities began their annual sojourn to Shree Gundicha Temple by riding their majestic chariots along the Bada Danda (Grand Road) during the Shree Gundicha Yatra (the first leg of the annual Rath Yatra).
While the Taladhwaja chariot of Lord Balabhadra reached the Shree Gundicha Temple on Tuesday (June 20), the Darpadalan chariot of Devi Subhadra and the Nandighosa chariot of Lord Jagannath were halted midway as pulling of chariots after dusk is forbidden in the ‘sastras’.
However, on Wednesday (June 21), both of these chariots were successfully pulled by devotees to the Shree Gundicha Temple.
Keeping with the tradition, the deities stayed on their respective chariots for the day and moved into the Shree Gundicha Temple today.
