Bhubaneswar: The southwest monsoon is already active across Odisha and, as a result, scattered heavy to very heavy with isolated extremely heavy rainfall is very likely in some districts of the state, the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here said today issuing an orange alert for the next two days.
A low-pressure area has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Odisha-West Bengal coasts with associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level. It is very likely to move west-northwestwards across north Odisha and Jharkhand during the next two days.

Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely at one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Nuapada, Kalahandi, and Kandhamal.
Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall is very likely at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Nayagarh, Khurda, Cuttack, Nabarangpur, and Dhenkanal.

Orange warning: Scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at a few places in Bargarh, Bolangir, Kalahandi, and Nuapada. Isolated heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is very likely at one or two places in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, and Nabarangpur.
Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, and Kandhamal.
It is worth noting here that under the influence of the anticipated low-pressure system, windy weather with gusty surface wind speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph is very likely over the north Bay of Bengal adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal, along and off the Odisha coast from June 25 to June 27, 2023 (morning).
