Bhubaneswar: The State Vigilance today arrested an Accounts Officer belonging to the Odisha Taxation and Accounts Service (OTAS) on charges of bribery. The OTAS officer in question, Rajendra Dash was arrested by the Vigilance while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000 from a contractor for releasing his payment.
Dash works at Reamal Block in Deogarh district. “He had demanded money from the contractor who had constructed an Anganwadi centre. The entire bribe money has been recovered from the possession of Dash and seized,” the Vigilance stated.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are on at two locations belonging to Dash in Deogarh and Sambalpur districts from disproportionate assets angle.
In this connection, Rourkela Vigilance have registered a case under Section 7 of P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018. Investigation is in progress, the Vigilance further stated.
