Bhubaneswar: A cyclonic circulation lies over northwest Bay of Bengal & adjoining Coastal Odisha and extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over northwest Bay of Bengal during next 48 hours, the India Meteorological Department has stated in its midday bulletin.
The IMD has said that Southwest monsoon has been active over Odisha and under the impact of the aforementioned meteorological conditions rainfall activity is likely to intensify in the State during the next five days with heavy to very heavy spells at places.
The weather agency has issued ‘yellow’ and ‘orange’ warnings respectively for the districts where heavy to very rainfall is predicted.

Day 1 (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 19.07.2023)
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of South Odisha and at many places over the districts of North Odisha.
ORANGE WARNING(BE PREPARED): Heavy to very heavy Rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangapur, and Kalahandi.
YELLOW WARNING:-(BE UPDATED) Heavy Rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, and Puri.
Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 19.07.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 20.07.2023)
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of South Interior Odisha and at many places over the rest districts of Odisha. YELLOW WARNING:-(BE UPDATED) Heavy Rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangapur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, and Angul.

YELLOW WARNING:-(BE UPDATED) Heavy Rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Bolangir, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.
Weather warning for fishermen of Odisha coast valid for next 05 days:
Day 1 to Day 2:- NIL
Day 3 to Day 5:- Under the influence of strong monsoon current and anticipated low pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal, Squally weather with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph likely along and off Odisha Coast, Northwest and adjoining West central Bay of Bengal during 20th July 2023 to 22nd July 2023.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea along and off Odisha Coast, Northwest and adjoining West central Bay of Bengal during 20th July 2023 to 22nd July 2023.
In view of the IMD’s forecast the Special Relief Commissioner’s Office has asked Collectors of all districts to remain on alert.
