Bhubaneswar: The construction of the Nuagaon Road-Dasapalla Railway Section, part of the much-awaited ongoing Khurda Road-Balangir Rail Line project, has been completed and is awaiting clearance from the Commissioner of Railway Safety for commissioning.
AM Chowdhary, Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) South Eastern Circle, Kolkata, inspected successfully the 15.445 km rail line between Nuagaon Road and Dasapalla Railway Section of the Khurda Road-Balangir Rail Line project today. All safety-related works on the new line were inspected and thoroughly checked before commissioning.
Chowdhary examined safety aspects such as overhead equipment, bridges, signal and telecommunication equipment, railway track, and manned level crossings. Additionally, a speed trial was also conducted between Dasapalla and Nuagaon Road Stations to review the safety aspects of the section.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and General Manager Manoj Sharma have advised officials to prioritize the speedy completion of various projects in the region. Sharma also emphasized the need for officials to coordinate with stakeholders, including state government officials, to expedite the project’s completion.
The Khurda Road-Balangir Rail Line project will boost the economy of the region and foster socio-cultural connections between Western Odisha and Coastal Odisha, apart from promoting tourism.
Out of the 301 km length of the Khurda Road-Balangir Rail Line project, a total of 142.505 km has been completed, including approximately 106 km from Khurda Road to Dasapalla and 36 km from Balangir to Khambeswarapalli.
ECoR also aims to complete an additional 84 km of rail line from Khambeswarapali to Purunakatak in the fiscal year 2023-24.
