Bhubaneswar: The regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here on Friday forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha on July 28 and 31 and August 1 under the influence of a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal. In a tweet, the weather office said that the state is expected to receive 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm of rainfall during this period.
As the low-pressure returns to its normal position from the south, rainfall in Odisha is expected to escalate from July 30.
The IMD issued a yellow warning for heavy rain on Friday in five Odisha districts, including Nuapada, Bargarh, Balangir, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.
Meanwhile, the seasonal cumulative rainfall, realised from June 1 to July 28 is 452.8 mm against its normal value of 515.6 mm. During the period, 12 districts in Odisha received deficient rain, 2 in excess, and the remaining 16 districts experienced normal rainfall.
