Thunderstorm, Lightning Predicted In 20 Odisha Dists, Heavy Rain Likely In 4

Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Sonepur, Sambalpur, and Bolangir during the next 24 hours, according to India Meteorological Department’s (IMD’s) midday weather bulletin.

Besides, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, and Jajpur during the same period, the bulletin added.

The IMD has issued ‘Yellow Warning’ for the aforementioned districts.

In its forecast for Bhubaneswar and its neighbourhood for the next 24 hours the IMD has said that rain or thundershowers would occur towards afternoon/evening.

Here’s the IMD’s weather forecast and warning for the districts of Odisha for next five days:

Day 1 (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 15.08.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the

districts Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be updated) 1)Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Sonepur, Sambalpur, and Bolangir.

Heavy Rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, and Jajpur.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 15.08.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 16.08.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of North Odisha, South Coastal Odisha and at a few places over the districts of South Interior Odisha.

Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar ,Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Sambalpur.

Heavy Rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar ,Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Bhadrak.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 16.08.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 17.08.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of North Odisha and at many places over the districts of South Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be updated)Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Angul, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.

Heavy Rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, and Bolangir.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 17.08.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 18.08.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the

districts Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be updated) Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Bargarh, Sonepur, Sambalpur.

Heavy Rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nawarangpur, Koraput, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Deogarh, and Jharsuguda.

Day 5 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 18.08.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 19.08.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Interior Odisha and at many places over the districts of Coastal Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be updated) Heavy Rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nawarangpur, Nuapada, Koraput, Bargarh, and Bolangir.
