Bhubaneswar: The formation of yet another cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal on August 25 is likely to increase the intensity of rain across Odisha from Tuesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted in its mid-day bulletin on Monday.
The weather office issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall at some places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, and Ganjam for Tuesday. In addition, it has issued a warning regarding thunderstorms accompanied by lightning for several places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Balasore, Gajapati and Ganjam.
On August 23, heavy rain may lash a few places in Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, and Keonjhar districts. A yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning has also been issued for one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Khurda, Puri and Ganjam. At the same time, the entire state may also experience light to moderate rain with thundershowers.
On August 24, heavy rainfall may lash one or two places in Balangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Angul, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Boudh districts. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning may occur at a few places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Balangir, Sonepur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, and Jagatsinghpur.
Light to moderate rain or thundershower may occur in most places in north interior Odisha and at several places in the remaining parts of the state.
Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places in Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, and Nayagarh on August 25. In addition, one or two places in Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Angul districts may experience thunderstorms with lightning.
