5 Arrested For Forging Building Plan Approval Letters Of Sambalpur Development Authority

Sambalpur: Sambalpur police on Tuesday arrested five persons for allegedly issuing forged building plan approval letters of Sambalpur Development Authority (SDA) to applicants.

According to the police, the accused persons have been identified as Bulu alias Laxmi Narayan Samal (32), Ajay Behera (47), Bikash Jagat (36),  Dambarudhar Tripathy (40) and Sudhansu Kishor Pati (59).

Police have seized three cars of different makes, 22 nos. of files, two diaries, one notebook, bank statements, 22 nos. of stamps, five mobile phones, one computer and one laptop from their possession, police said.

Police have detected their illegal money transaction to the tune of Rs 3,31,97,227.

So far police have found that more than 54 persons have been victimized by them.

“It is a case of organized crime. We have registered cases for forgery and cheating. We have arrested five accused who were supplying forged building approval plan letters of SDA to people and were taking financial benefits. They were cheating people and were also causing revenue loss to the government,” informed Sambalpur SP Mukesh Kumar Bhamoo briefing reporters here today.

Bhamoo said that the in the course of the investigation so far police have detected their bank transactions amounting to more than Rs 3.3 crore.

The bank details of the same have been seized, he added.

“We have seized several files, kutcha diaries, seals, bank account, new vehicles purchased by them, ROR of a piece of land worth Rs 35 to 40 lakh from their possession,” Bhamoo said.

He informed that so far the police have seized data of more than 54 persons victimized by them.

One of the accused Laxmi Narayan Samal works with the SDA as a dealing assistant since 2017 on a contractual basis, he added.
