Bhubaneswar: The Twin City Police Commissionerate on Wednesday launched the Sahabhagita initiative with a view to reducing the criminal incidences in the state capital Bhubaneswar. The Sahabhagita initiative aims to bring the city under close watch to prevent and detect crime.
The initiative was launched in Cuttack city in July 2022 by the Cuttack Urban Police Department. Currently, more than 600 community (private) CCTV cameras are part of this initiative helping the police to keep an eye on the city and reduce crime.
Commissioner of Police of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar Saumendra Kumar Priyadarshi said that they plan to extend the initiative to Bhubaneswar. The twin city Commissioner appealed to shopkeepers, banks, jewellery shop owners, hotels, and the authorities of various shopping malls in the capital city to install CCTV cameras and link their IP addresses with the police. “At least one CCTV camera should face the road to monitor activities outside the establishment. We assure everyone that the footage of the CCTV cameras will be kept confidential,” he added.
The Police Commissioner added, “The establishments can contact their local IIC or call on mobile number 94392 24441 for more information.”
