Bhubaneswar: Today, a 23-year-old man was discovered dead in a motel in the Charampa neighbourhood of Odisha’s Bhadrak district under unexplained circumstances.
Devraj Samal, the deceased belongs to Jalahari village in Bhadrak’s Bhandaripokhari police limits. Police said Devraj was employed by a private company in Bhubaneswar.
Yesterday, Devraj and a female companion checked into the hotel. In the early hours of today, he reportedly attempted suicide in the hotel room, according to reports. Devraj was taken in an emergency to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). On arrival, they added, he was nonetheless pronounced dead.
On being informed, Bhadrak Town police reached the spot and launched a probe into the incident after registering a case in this regard. The police also detained Devraj’s female friend for questioning, sources said. According to Devraj’s family, someone may have killed him in the hotel room.
