Bhubaneswar: Indian Railways has sanctioned Rs 6.49 crore for the development of the drainage system on the west side of the Balasore railway station.
According to a press release issued by the East Coast Railway (ECoR) on Friday, the Indian Railways has been regular steps to provide more passenger facilities and upgrade basic facilities at all stations under the Zonal Railways. As a part of this, development works are also underway at Balasore station under the Kharagpur railway zone of the South Eastern Railway (SER).
During the recent visit of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnab, Balasore residents apprised the minister of the problems faced at the Balasore railway station. They said that drainage of rainwater from the station and adjoining areas was a major problem. Keeping in view the concerns of the public, the Ministry of Railways has sanctioned a sum of Rs 6.49 crore for providing a drainage system on the west side of the station.
Major upgrades have been done at Balasore station under the “Amrit Bharat Station Scheme”, which plans to develop stations with a long-term approach, it read.
