Bhubaneswar: Five people have succumbed to Scrub Typhus disease while four new cases have been detected in Odisha’s ‘rice bowl’ Bargarh district. Of the five victims, two are from the Sohella block, and one each from Attabira, Barpali, and Bheden blocks of the district.
Till September 10, the district medical department has examined the blood samples of 168 people and four were found positive for the disease caused by mite bites. All four have recovered. However, four new cases were reported this week.
According to reports, the bacterial disease is more common among people who work in agricultural fields or go to the forests to collect forest produce. As a result, panic prevails among the farmer community in this district.
