Sambalpur: Keeping in view low pressure induced rain in the upper catchment of river Mahanadi, Hirakud Dam authorities have opened two gates of the reservoir.
Dam authorities have informed that one gate each on the left and right side of the spillway has been opened to release excess floodwater.
According to information shared by the Dam authorities at 3.00 PM water level in the reservoir stood at 628.23 feet.
While the inflow into the reservoir stood at 73,308 cusecs, the outflow stood at 35,189 cusecs. Out of this, 30,830 cusecs of water was being released through the power channel and the remaining through the two gates of the reservoir.
While 3987 cusecs of water was being released for agriculture, 3255 cusecs was being released through Sambalpur distributary, and 257 cusecs was being supplied to industries.
Similarly, 15,200 cusecs water was flowing in the river Mahanadi at Belgaon, 47,672 cusecs at Patharla, 62,000 cusecs Khairmal, 71,000 cusecs at Barmul and 80,000 cusecs at Mundali.
