Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance today arrested OAS officer Sangram Keshari Jena, former Tahasildar of Buguda in Ganjam district on charges of amassing disproportionate assets (DA) to the tune of 187% of his known sources of income.
According to an official press release, OAS officer and ex-Tahasildar of Buguda in Ganjam district who is at present posted in the Revenue & Disaster Management Department was arrested by the Vigilance and forwarded to the Court of the Special Judge Vigilance, Bhubaneswar for possession of DA to the tune of 187% of his known sources of income, which he could not account for satisfactorily.
Vigilance has registered a case against OAS officer Jena under sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b) of the PC Amendment Act, 2018.
During house searches, the following movable and immovable assets worth crores were unearthed in the name of Jena and his family members: 1) One triple-storeyed building located at Jena Colony, Balugaon, Khordha over plot No-241 with total area of 7554 Sqft. of approx cost Rs.1.36 Crore; 2) One building located at Haripur, under Tangi police limits of Khordha district with total area of 2700 Sqft; 3) 5 plots including 4 plots in Chhotaraypur Sasan, Banpur town, in Khordha district and advance of Rs 11 Lakh given by Jena to purchase a benami plot of area Ac. 0.430 dcml at Rampur mouza, Balugaon; 4) Bank, Postal, Insurance and other deposits worth over Rs 21.46 lakh; 5) Rs 85,000 in cash.
6) 3 four-wheelers (TATA Harrier, Maruti Ertiga & Maruti Alto LXI) & 2 two-wheelers worth over Rs 38.29 lakh; and 7) Gold jewellery & household articles worth over Rs 11.05 lakh.
After a thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets OAS officer Jena were calculated by Vigilance officials and he was found in possession of DA which were 187% in excess of his known sources of income.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
