Paradip: A car was swept away by floodwaters in the river Mahanadi near Rahama Khusalpur in Jagatsinghpur district today. Two youths who were inside the car somehow managed to come out of the vehicle and climb a tree to save themselves from being swept away by the strong current in the river.
The two youths were rescued by Fire Service personnel from Tirtol who rushed to the spot upon being informed about the incident.
The rescued youths have been identified as Rashmi Ranjan Swain of Dhinkia village in Jagatsinghpur district and Puspakanta Mohanty of Patkura village in Kendrapada district.
The health condition of the two rescued youths is stated to be okay.
