Bhubaneswar: Nearly a week after the disrobed body of a woman was recovered from the Malda River on September 20, her family has alleged that the woman was abducted, tortured, and gang-raped before being killed by contract killers allegedly hired by her husband in Odisha’s Keonjhar.
Her relatives further alleged that the miscreants then dumped the body of the woman in the Malda River to conceal the crime.
According to the deceased’s brother, “My sister was abducted, tortured, and brutally gang-raped. Later, contract killers hired by her husband killed her and dumped her body in the river. We want justice… death sentence to her husband and the contract killers.”
The victim went missing on September 3 and her body was recovered from the Malda River on September 20. Acting on the complaint filed by the woman’s family, Sadar police arrested the victim’s husband and recreated the crime scene. The police are yet to nab the contract killers.
Keonjhar Sadar SDO Mahendra Murmu said, “We are investigating the case and can confirm whether the victim was gang-raped only after we get the post-mortem report. We assure to arrest all the accused soon.”
