Bhubaneswar: Farmer family income in Odisha has increased by a meagre 2.73% in 2019 as compared to 2013.
This was revealed by Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain while replying to a query from Khandapada MLA Soumya Ranjan Patnaik in the Odisha Assembly today.
The Minister informed that the Directorate of Statistics & Economics of the State doesn’t conduct regular surveys for assessing the income of farmer families.
The survey is conducted National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) under the Union Ministry of Statistics, the Minister added.
Swain said that data on the monthly income of farmers was collected during the 69th, 70th and 77th survey rounds of the National Sample Survey Office(NSSO).
According to the report of the 59th round (January-December 2003) the monthly average income of a farmer family in Odisha was Rs 1062, while as per the report of the 70th round (January-December 2013) the monthly average income of a farmer family was Rs 4,976 and as per the report of the 77th round the monthly average income of a farmer family was Rs 5112, Swain said.

The yield of paddy and non-paddy crops has increased in 2022-23 as compared to that of 2015-16, the Minister said sharing a comparative statement.
