Bhubaneswar: As many as 602 people have died in elephant attacks in Odisha in the last five years.
Replying to an un-starred question of Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati, Forest and Environment Minister Pradip Amat informed the Assembly that 127 domestic animals were killed between 2018-19 and 2022-23 in elephant attacks in the State.
The Minister further informed that 9,611 houses were damaged due to the jumbo menace in the period.
The Forest Department has taken proactive measures to check the elephant menace in the State, Amat told the House.
