Bargarh: Bargarh Town Police on Sunday seized 1240 bottles of cough syrup and arrested one person for his involvement in the illegal trade.
Police have also seized about eight litres of adulterated drugs in a plastic jerry can, two strips of Nitrosun-10 tablets and Honda Activa scooter from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Asiq Suna alias Jagdu Suna (19) of Bisipada under Bargarh Town police station limits of Bargarh district. Two other accused managed to flee the spot.
Briefing reporters here on Monday, Additional Superintendent of Police, Bargarh RK Mohanty informed that acting on a tip-off that Asiq Suna along with two of his friends was coming from the Nadipada area with cough syrup on a scooter, a police team on instruction from Bargarh Superintendent of Police conducted a raid.
While police managed to apprehend Suna, the two others managed to flee. Police after apprehending Suna conducted a raid at the latter’s residence. During the raid at Suna’s residence police seized 1240 bottles of cough syrup and sedative tablets.
Suna was forwarded to court today.
