Elderly Devotee Falls Unconscious Inside Shree Jagannath Temple, Dies At Hospital

Puri: A 65-year-old male devotee fell unconscious while having darshan of the Lords at the Shree Jagannath Temple here today.

He was rushed to the district headquarters hospital here. However, he was declared dead by the doctors at the hospital.

The deceased has been identified as Rajendra Saria of Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh.

Saria, a heart patient fell unconscious due to suffocation inside the temple. He was rushed out of the main temple through the Beheran Dwar and taken to the hospital in an ambulance.

Saria’s family members blamed the faulty system of darshan at the temple which resulted in crowding and suffocation.
