Bhubaneswar: A building of the newly established Odisha University of Health Sciences in Ekamra Kshetra here was unveiled by Health Minister Niranjan Pujari.
The event took place in the presence of Vice Chancellor Prof Datteswar Hota, Shalini Pandit, Commission- cum Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Department, Vishal Kumar Dev, Principal Secretary, Finance Department, Aurobinda Agrawal, Commissioner- cum- Secretary, Higher Education Department, and Saidutta Biplab Kumar Pradhan, Registrar.
Members of the Executive Board MLA Dr Pramod Kumar Malik, Dr Nrusingha Charan Sahu, Prof (Dr) Ashok Kumar Mohapatra, Prof (Dr) Sachidananda Mohanty, DMET, Odisha, Prof. Upendra Kumar Sahoo, Director, Public Health, Odisha, Dr Bijay Kumar Mohapatra, Director of Health Services, Odisha, Premjit Nayak, Director, AYUSH, Odisha, Prof. (Dr) L.K.Nanda , Former Principal, ACHMC, Bhubaneswar, Prof (Dr) Akshay Kumar Samal, Dean & Principal, Hi Tech Medical College & Hospital, Bhubaneswar, Prof. (Dr) Prasenjit Mohanty, Dean & Principal, S.C.B Medical College & Hospital, Cuttack, and Goutam Pradhan, Comptroller of Finance, OUHS were also present.
On the occasion, the Minister inaugurated the e-Office developed by the National Informatics Centre, Bhubaneswar to ease the day-to-day functioning of the University.
Odisha University of Health Sciences Act was passed in 2021, and was established on March 5, 2003 on the eve of Panchayatiraj Divas. It started its operation in the Ekamra Kshetra at Sishu Bhawan Square in 2022. The University has been established with an objective to streamline the Medical, and allied health science courses in the State.
From 2023-24 academic session, courses like MBBS, MD, MS, DM, MCh, BDS, MDS, BAMS, BHMS, B.Sc Nursing, M.Sc Nursing, BPT, MPT, BMLT, BMRT, BEMT, BOTT, BAT, BO, BOT, MOT, B.Pharm, M.Pharm offered in the affiliated colleges will be governed under the regulations and courses of studies prescribed by the Odisha University of Health Sciences.
Director, Curriculum Prof (Dr) Geeta Sahu, Controller of Examinations, Prof (Dr) Amarendra Nayak, and Director, Research & Development, Prof (Dr) Budyut Kumar Das were also present on this auspicious occasion.
Prof. Hota, Vice Chancellor, Odisha University of Health Sciences has extended his sincere gratitude to the mandate of the Government of Odisha led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Commissioner- cum- Secretary to Government, Health & Family Welfare Department, Director of Medical Education & Training, Odisha and others in establishing the much-awaited Health University in the state of Odisha. He expressed hope that this will streamline, and fulfill the timely teaching, examination, and publication of results
