Bhubaneswar: The deep depression over the west-central Bay of Bengal remained practically stationary during past six hours and lay centered at 0230 hours IST Monday over west-central Bay of Bengal, near latitude 16.4°N and longitude 86.4°E, about 430 km south of Paradip in Odisha, 590 km south-southwest of Digha in West Bengal, and 740 km south-southwest of Khepupara in Bangladesh.
The deep depression is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm during the next 18 hours. It is very likely to move nearly northwards till the morning of October 23, then north-northeastwards and cross the Bangladesh coast between Khepupara and Chittagong around October 25 evening as a deep depression.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), although the deep depression will not have any significant impact on Odisha, it is likely to bring light to moderate rain and thundershowers in the coastal areas of the state on October 23 and 25.
