Balasore: An ailing female elephant inhabiting the foothills of Dight Bhora Hill under the Khuntapatan beat house in Odisha’s Balasore district died on Sunday morning.
Forest protection committee and Forest Department staff along with local residents rescued the dead elephant and sent the carcass for post-mortem.
While the reason for the ailment of the elephant is yet to be ascertained, ACF Smita Sahu said that it will be clear after they receive the post-mortem report.
