Balasore: As many as 11 people, some of them children, were injured after a rogue jackal attacked them at Siari village under Bhograi block in Balasore district.
The wild animal attacked people in various places of the village from afternoon to evening.
Five critically injured have been admitted to Jaleswar Hospital.
On the other hand, first aid treatment has been given to those who sustained minor injuries. The villagers captured the jackal and informed the forest department.
The animal also reportedly attacked cattle and cows in Belda village.
Those seriously injured are Chaityanya Patra (65), Gajendra Jena (85), Kavita Patran (40), Pandari Kaksha Mishra (42), Shantilata Pradhan (75) Sulochana Pradhan (35) and Basanti Pan Patra (40). All of them have been admitted to hospital.
