Bhubaneswar: The SDJM Court in Balasore Tuesday sentenced a high school Assistant Teacher and an Anganwadi Worker to undergo simple imprisonment for one year and two years respectively in a forgery case.
According to an official press release issued by the Odisha Vigilance, the Court of SDJM, Balasore on Tuesday convicted Nagesh Kumar Mahakud, Asst. Teacher, Raghunathswar High School, Keonjhar and Lilabati Mohanta, Anganwadi Worker, Chaka, under Sadar police station limits of Keonjhar under sections 420/468/471/34 of the IPC in a forgery case.
Mahakud was found guilty for issuing transfer certificate by changing the date of birth of Lilabati Mohanta and putting the seal of Headmaster of the school.
The Court of SDJM, Balasore convicted and sentenced accused Asst Teacher Mahakud to undergo simple imprisonment for a period of 1 year and fine of Rs 10,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further simple imprisonment for a period of 2 months more for the offence under section 468 IPC.
The Court also sentenced Anganwadi Worker Lilabati Mohanta,to undergo simple imprisonment for a period of 1 year and payment of fine of Rs 10,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further simple imprisonment for a period of 2 months more for the offence under section 471 IPC.
The Court further sentenced Mohanta to undergo simple imprisonment for a period of 2 years and payment of fine of Rs 10,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further simple imprisonment for a period of 2 months more for the offence under section 420 IPC. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for dismissal of Nagesh Kumar Mahakud, Asst. Teacher and Lilabati Mohanta, Anganwadi Worker from service following their conviction, the release added.
