Bhubaneswar: Four public transport buses parked in a garage at Tomando on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar were gutted in a fire on Sunday afternoon. The precise reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained.

The fire began in one of the buses and quickly spread to three more vehicles parked nearby. Though four buses were gutted in the incident, there is no report of casualty. Eyewitnesses claimed that the fire started when welding work was on in one bus.

On being informed, Fire Services personnel rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire. Fire tenders and staff from four fire stations – Tamando Fire Station, Jatni Fire Station, Secretariat Fire Station, and Fire Training Centre were pressed into service to control the fire.

Meanwhile, police have started an investigation into the incident and are interrogating the employees of the garage.
