Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) authorities advised the city residents to give wet and dry waste separately to BMC Garbage collection vehicles as the civic body is gearing up to set up four bio-methane gas plants on the outskirts of the city.

The plants will be set up in PPP mode for processing wet wastes at four locations- Rokata, Meher Palli, Kochilput and Basuaghai. The plants will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 100 crore. The tender process has started, BMC informed.

The gas released from the plant will be sold after converting it into CNG. The BMC also aims to sell the waste from the plant to cement factories. As many as 2000 tonnes of wet waste will be processed per day in four plants.

The civic body will not take garbage unless it is segregated. The BMC will make people aware of this, BMC Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange said
