Bhubaneswar: Acting on a tip-off, District Voluntary Force (DVF) of Odisha Police and Special Operation Group (SOG) commandos undertook an intensive search in the general area under Mathili police limits in Malkangiri district bordering Odisha-Chhattisgarh. The search resulted in the uncovering of one major Maoist dump near a jungle area between Tulsi and Kirmiti villages under Mathili police limits on Tuesday evening.
During the search operation, the joint forces of DVF and SOG uncovered and seized a huge quantity of arms, IEDs, and other articles. The seizure list included one country-made gun, 105 gelatin sticks, 12 metres of Codex wire, and a huge number of IEDs. According to Malkangiri police, these articles were stocked possibly intended to target civilians and security forces.
“This is a major jolt to the subversive and anti-national design of Maoists in this area. “We suspect that the explosives along with other articles belong to the Maoist cadres of DKSZC and they were intended to be used against innocent civilians and security forces to carry out their subversive, anti-national activities and to show their presence again in this area. In the wake of recovery, further combing and search operations are going on in this area,” an official release by Malkangiri police read.
