RBI To Organise Exchange Melas For Coins, Torn & Soiled Notes In All 314 Blocks

Bhubaneswar: Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Bhubaneswar will organise exchange melas for exchanging coins, torn, damaged and soiled notes in all the 314 blocks of Odisha, informed Sarada Prasanna Mohanty, Regional Director, RBI.

Mohanty said that exchange melas will be organised at marketplaces in the 314 blocks through different banks beginning the first or second week of December.

All the 314 blocks will be covered under the exchange programme within three months, he added.

The RBI Regional Director informed that all coins ranging from 50 paise to Rs 20 are legal tender and banks are bound to receive these if anyone wishes to deposit the same in his/her bank account.

No banks can deny to exchange coins or torn and soiled notes, the RBI Regional Director clarified.
