Bhubaneswar: The Extended State Executive Committee meeting of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) was held at the party’s headquarters—Sankha Bhawan here today.
The meeting began with the offering of floral tributes at the photograph of legendary Biju Patnaik and singing of ‘Bande Utkal Janani’.
Later, Senior Vice President of the BJD Prasanna Acharya spoke on the various agendas of the State Executive Committee meeting.
BJD’s Senior Vice President Debi Mishra moved the organisational proposals at the meeting which was coordinated by the party’s Organisational Secretary Pranab Prakash Das. The proposals were passed unanimously after it was seconded by MLA Latika Pradhan.
Later, 11 political proposals and 16 Thanksgiving proposals were discussed and adopted at the meeting.
The party expressed its gratitude to the people of Odisha for the continuous victory of Biju Janata Dal in various Assembly, Lok Sabha, elections, by-elections, and cooperative elections, especially panchayat and municipal elections since 2000.
The State Executive Committee congratulated Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik for the huge success of BJD as a regional party under his leadership.
The State Executive Committee thanked the Chief Minister for the promotion of Jagannath culture and consciousness for the implementation of the innovative Sri Jagannath Parikrama project and the steps taken for the conservation and restoration of various places of worship and heritage in different parts of Odisha such as Sri Lingaraj, Maa Samlei, and Taratarini.
Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) has proved to be a lifesaver for the people which is novel and unique in India.
A proposal thanking Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for the implementation of social security and food security programmes and the rapid transformation of health infrastructure in Odisha was adopted at the meeting.
A proposal thanking the Naveen government for empowering women and youth in addition to expanding employment and self-employment opportunities with the rapid industrialization of the state, and Odisha consistently being among the top 3 states in India in terms of investment was adopted at the meeting.
The State Executive Committee appreciated the active steps taken by the Naveen government to fulfil the aspirations of the youth by developing sports infrastructure and rapid development in the IT sector. The meeting thanked the Naveen government for prioritizing the development of farmers and farming and the growth of irrigation.
A proposal thanking the Naveen Government for its initiatives and programs for Scheduled Castes and Tribes, Backward Classes and Minorities was adopted at the meeting.
The Chief Minister was thanked for allocating sufficient funds for the transformation of schools, colleges and universities with people-oriented administration in 5T transformations using technology.
The State Executive Committee thanked Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for increasing the rate of growth in the State, increasing per capita income reduction in debt burden and achieving success in financial management.
The State Executive Committee welcomed the development of infrastructure, value addition of our resources under 5T initiatives in an attempt to make Odisha a fully developed State.
The State Executive Committee adopted an organisational proposal to undertake Assembly segment-wise training and then a Zonal training programme at Sankha Bhawan.
On the one hand, after the Foundation Day, a panchayat-level conference and a campaign will be launched from Netaji Jayanti on January 23 to Biju Jayanti on March 5 to tell the people about the success and development of the Naveen government at the grassroots level.
In the meeting, it was decided that efforts will be continued to achieve Odisha’s rightful demands under the federal system, such as special category state status and even special focus state status. In addition, the meeting expressed regret over the silence of the Centre on the issues of Mahanadi and Polavaram and it was announced that efforts will continue to fulfill the demands.
In addition to fulfilling Odisha’s demands in terms of payment of coal royalty, and cess, speeding up the development of national highways and railways and removing the GST burden from the poor kendu leaf pluckers, an increase in consumer prices and the difficulties faced by women due to it in running the house were discussed at the meeting. It was decided at the meeting to request the Central government to take necessary steps in this direction.
A resolution was adopted at the meeting to work with determination for the successful implementation of the Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha programme.
The organizational proposal of the party, regarding the change of the address of the party’s central office-Shankh Bhawan, and the proposal to shift the organizational election by one year and future organizational programmes were discussed and accepted unanimously.
Addressing the State Executive Committee meeting BJD president Naveen Patnaik said, “The Opposition is bereft of issue.Transformation of Odisha is a big shock for them. Therefore, they will tell lies and indulge in slander. We have to strongly counter it at the grassroots level. We have to counter this in social media and in addition to this the message of development should reach every home in Odisha. People of Odisha know truth shall prevail. Truth will win, development will win..New Odisha and empowered Odisha will be formed”.
A total of 27 proposals were moved by the party’s senior leaders and other senior leaders supported these.
The State Executive Committee meeting ended with members taking a pledge to build a strong and empowered Odisha.
