Cuttack: Locals of Purbakacha village under Jagatpur police limits on Sunday spotted the body of a Class V student, who had been missing since Saturday. The blood-stained body was found lying near a pond on the outskirts of the village with slit throat.
According to reports, the boy left home on Saturday after his parents scolded him for not studying. As he did not return at night, his parents and relatives searched for him but they could not trace his whereabouts.
Around 8.00 am on Sunday, locals spotted the body of the missing minor boy and informed the police.
On being informed, the police reached the spot, sent the body for post-mortem, and launched a probe into the matter.
Speaking to the media, Cuttack Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Arun Swayum said, “We got information that the body of a 12-year-old boy was found near a village pond. Seeing the cut marks on the body it is suspected to be a case of murder. We have started an investigation into the matter.”
