Bargarh: In yet another incident of man-animal conflict, two labourers were killed in an elephant attack in the Gaysilet block of Odisha’s Bargarh district early on Sunday morning. The deceased were attacked by the tusker when they had gone to the river to bathe earlier today.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.
According to reports, 10 laborers had gone from the Geysilet area to lay an underground pipeline.
A herd of elephants had entered the Bheden area in Bargarh from Sambalpur a few days back and destroyed crops and houses. One elephant in the herd reportedly killed the two labourers.
On being informed, the Forest department and police personnel reached the spot and continued efforts to drive away the herd of elephants. The police recovered the bodies and sent them for post-mortem.
