Bhubaneswar: In a horrific incident, two youths riding a Royal Enfield motorcycle were killed when a speeding oil-tanker hit them from behind on NH 55 in front of the Horticulture office in Rairakhol town in Sambalpur district on Wednesday.
The youths who lost their lives in the accident were Shamsundar Bhitiria, a resident of Ratha Sahi in Rairakhol, and Shubhendu Sahu of the bus stand area. They lost their lives on the way to home.
The collision was so severe that the bullet ricocheted off the road. Similarly, one leg of the youth who was riding the vehicle has been completely torn apart.
After the accident, the truck driver fled the scene. Local people staged a road blockade protesting administration’s apathy in preventing frequent occurrence of accidents on the same spot. Over a hundred vehicles were stranded on both sides of the road due to the blockade
Police reached the spot after receiving information. Later, Rairakhol MLA Rohit Pujari and SDPO reached the spot and pacified the mob.
