Bhubaneswar: Amidst dense fog covering several parts of Odisha, the mercury dropped slightly as nine places in the state recorded minimum temperatures (nighttime temperatures) of below 11°C. Koraput was the coldest place in Odisha recording a minimum temperature of 7.8°C.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), places where the nighttime temperatures were below or around 11°C include G Udayagiri (9.4°C), Daringbadi (8.5°C), Phulbani (10°C), Keonjhar (10.3°C), Ranital (10.6°C), Semiliguda (10.7°C), Kirei (10.7°C), and Angul (11°C).
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded minimum temperatures of 16°C and 14.5°C respectively.
Meanwhile, dense fog covered several areas of Odisha during the last 24 hours reducing visibility to as low as 40 meters in some places. Dense fog occurred in one or two places in Rourkela, Koraput, Sonepur, Phulbani, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, and Nayagarh.
The weather office has predicted that the weather will generally remain dry across Odisha with the occurrence of shallow to dense fog at several places in the state for the next three days. Some places may also experience light showers during this period.
