Koksara(Kalahandi): Koksara police have arrested two youths — Jitendra Sabar (23) and Sankar Rout (23) of Dhansara village for allegedly attempting to rape a young woman.
According to reports, the victim along with her elder sister and their domestic help on New Year’s Day had gone to the hillock near their village for picnicking. While the victim was clicking photos at the picnic spot, Jitendra and Sankar attempted to rape her. When the victim after escaping from the clutches of her perpetrators made a phone call to her family members, they fled the spot.
On the evening of New Year’s Day, the victim’s family complained to the Koksara police station following which police registered a case and launched an investigation into the allegation.
On Thursday police arrested Jitendra and Sankar and forwarded them to court.
On refusal of bail by the court, the accused were remanded to judicial custody.
Koksara police have also recorded the victim’s statement.
