Jajpur: In a tragic incident on Saturday, a 3-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl drowned in a pond at Lalbag Kulasahi village under Mangalpur police limits in Jajpur district.
According to reports, the deceased have been identified as Kanha (3), son of Manas Jena and Rupa (2), daughter of Mithun Jena. The kids drowned in the pond while they were playing near their house. The unfortunate incident occurred while their mothers were busy in the kitchen. The deceased kids happen to be cousins.
The kids who were rescued by locals were rushed to the Government Hospital at Mangalpur. However, they were declared dead by the attending doctors at the hospital.
Mangalpur police after seizing the bodies have sent those for conduct of autopsy.
Futher investigation by the police is underway.
