Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths today apprehended an assistant sub-inspector of police for accepting bribe from a person to release his seized bike.
The anti-graft officials caught ASI Anil Kumar Nayak of Jeypore Town police station in Koraput district for demanding Rs 5,000 bribe from a person to release his seized two wheeler and its connected documents.
Nayak demanded the bribe money from the complainant through a middleman named Md Nazrul. When Nazrul accepted the money, vigilance team caught him and seized the amount.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Nayak from DA angle.
In this connection, Koraput Vigilance registered a case U/s-7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018. Investigation is in progress against both the accused persons, ASI Nayak and Md.Nazrul.
