Baripada: Kuliana police in Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday seized 200 bottles of Monocoff-Plus cough syrup being illegally transported on national highway no. 18 on a motorcycle and arrested one person in this connection.
The accused has been identified as Rajat Kumar Kar (39) of Nuasahi (Bugudakata) under Bhanjapur police limits of Mayurbhanj district.
Police have seized a carton containing 200 nos. of sealed Monocoff -Plus cough syrup of 100 ml each, one motorcycle, one smartphone with two SIMs, one keypad mobile phone with one SIM, one brown colour money purse, Aadhar Card, Pan Card, ATM Card, etc.
According to a press release issued by the Mayurbhanj police, while Kuliana police staff were performing day patrolling in Kuliana Bazar on NH 18, detected the accused person illegally transporting the Monocoff-Plus cough syrup bottles with the help of a motorcycle. The cough syrup bottles were seized under provisions of the NDPS Act. A case was registered and the accused was arrested while further investigation is underway.
