Police Nab Astrologer From Bhadrak For Rape Bid On City Woman

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police arrested an astrologer on Thursday on charges of allegedly duping a woman of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of solving her domestic problems and attempting to rape her.

The accused astrologer has been identified as Nilambar Pani.

According to reports, the woman met Pani on Facebook and shared her problems with the accused. Pani assured her that he would solve her issues and took several lakhs of rupees from her. However, he could not help her solve the issues. On the contrary, he allegedly tried to rape the woman while performing a ritual.

Acting on a complaint filed by the woman, the Commissionerate Police arrested the astrologer from Bhadrak on Thursday. Further investigation into the case is underway, police said.
