Retired ACTO & Spouse Awarded 3-Yr RI In Disproportionate Assets Case

Bhubaneswar: A Special Vigilance Court in Berhampur on Saturday sentenced retired former ACTO of Unified Check Gate Chikiti in Ganjam district Ramesh Chandra Behera and his spouse Mamata Behera to three years rigorous imprisonment (RI) each and to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 each after convicting them for possessing disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 34,32,966, said an official press release.

The court further ruled that Behera and his spouse in default of payment of fine shall undergo further rigorous imprisonment for three months each, the release added.

Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Behera following his conviction, the release further said.
