Bhadrak: A man who was admitted to a de-addiction centre in Dhamanagar of Bhadrak district was found dead with multiple injury marks on his body. His family members alleged that he was beaten to death at the centre.
Kedarnath Parida of Haripur village in Jajpur district was admitted to Bastaba drug de-addiction treatment-cum-rehabilitation centre at Dhamanagr. His family members were informed that Kedarnath was sick on Tuesday and today, they were told that he died at Bhadrak district headquarters hospital.
Family members of the deceased rushed to the hospital and found deep wounds and bruises on the body of Kedarnath. They alleged that he was murdered at the centre.
“We admitted to the de-addiction centre for his good treatment and well-being. But, the staff thrashed him severely there. We found injuries on his back, head and fractured leg. They informed us that Kedar suffered from Pneumonia. But, they have not taken him to hospital,” said Jitendra Das, nephew of the deceased.
Dhamnagar police started an inquiry into the circumstances that led to his death.
